Razer Blade 15 2018 H2 Gaming Laptop Review – Worth the Price?

The Razer Blade 15 2018 h2 is a thin, light, and powerful gaming laptop, so let’s find out what it offers and how well it performs.

Let’s start with the specs without any ado.

CPU (Central Processing Unit)

We’ve got intel i7-8750H, a 6 Core CPU that can turbo up to 4.1GHZ in single-core workloads or 3.9GHZ in all-core workloads.

Memory & Storage

16 GB of DDR4 memory running at 2,666MHz in dual channel, and all models of 2018 Razer Blade are advertised with dual channel memory which is great to see. There’s a 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD in the single M.2 slot.

Graphics & Screen

For the Graphics there’s an Nvidia 1070 Max-Q model, but it’s also available with the 1060 Max-Q as well. And this powers the 15.6 1080p 144Hz IPS Display.

Network Connectivity

For network connectivity, there’s support for 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth version 5. No ethernet post so you’ll need to use an adapter if you need one.

Body and Design

The Razer Blade is made out of a CNC aluminum unibody with a black anodized finish on both the lid and interior.

It’s a more blocky shape compared to another razer blade’s rounder versions, making the edges a little sharp not too bad, overall it felt really nice and solid.

Weight & Dimensions of Razer Blade 15 2018 h2

The dimensions of the laptop are 35.5cm in width, 23.5cm in depth, and 1.7cm in height, so these measures are quite a thing considering the specs of the laptop.

With the 230-watt power brick and cable for charging the total weight increases to around 2.9kg, so it’s still quite portable.

Keyboard

The keyboard has RGB backlighting which can be controlled at the individual key level through Razer’s Synapse software.

There are a number of built-in effects available and we found that in supported games the key lighting would automatically change, for example, while playing Overwatch the keys change to reflect the hero in use.

There’s no Numpad which people usually prefer. However, the keys are nice to type and are quiet, and overall built solid.

Touchpad

The glass touchpad felt extremely smooth and was nice and large, it uses precision drivers which people usually prefer, so overall it works very well.

Price of Razer Blade 15 2018 h2

As for the price, it’s going for around $3000 USD, but the price fluctuates according to the model and specs. Hence, it’s definitely not cheap, you are always going to pay more for a thin and powerful laptop.

There are cheaper alternatives with similar specs available like the MSI GS65 for example, it is a great alternative but in terms of performance, Razer Blade 15 2018 h2  is a nicer product with better build quality, as to whether or not the extra features are worth the increased price.

Conclusion

So, what do you think of the new 2018 edition of the Razer Blade Gaming Laptop? The new design and thin bezels are an excellent addition to Razer Blade laptops. It’s a pack of some serious gaming power in a thin package. Moreover, the battery life was really excellent, and overall it’s a great piece of technology.
